Composite decking is relatively new to the UK and perhaps we can take time to explain the manufacturing process that we are often asked , it is made from a combination of wood fibres and recycled polymers and a small trace of pigment , these are all combined together under temperature and then extruded through a die tool to produce the shape of the basic composite deck board which are the most popular in the UK. New technology is allowing manufacturers to get closer to the look of real wood and secondary processes can now be added to the basic composite boards and these are often referred to as co extruded or type 2 and these include capped and embossed . The boards can be supplied with a hollow internal core or completely solid , the former is the most popular because less material is used and so they are therefore cheaper to manufacture and supply.
