Late summer care for your composite decking |
|
7 Sep 2019 | You will have been enjoying the summer with your new composite deck but now it is time to give it that little maintenance that it deserves.
You may have experienced some stains on your deck from barbecues, wine stains or general dirt so it is always wise to follow the manufacturers advice as a lot will depend on the type of composite that you have for example do you have mono decking, capped or embossed etc.
With mono decking any stains can be cleaned off with a light detergent or by using a jet washer on a low setting and the beauty of this mono decking is that it can be lightly sanded on the affected area to remove stubborn stains.
If you have a brushed effect on your deck a wire brush can be used to gently remove stubborn stains.
Capped decking has a protective polymer layer so this can just be cleaned with a light detergent or jet washed on a low setting.
It is always best to clear leaves and debris off your deck over the autumn and winter months to keep it looking in top condition, unlike wooden decking composite doesn’t rot, will not need staining and is resistant to algae growth so if you follow the manufacturers guidelines your deck will look as good as new next spring
Just useful tips to help enjoy your composite decking.
